Marepi named Best Nursing Home in Greece for 2026
Gold this year, after Bronze in 2025
For the second year in a row, Marepi has been recognised among the best nursing homes in Greece. Last year we received Bronze. This year, we are proud and deeply moved to have received Gold for Best Nursing Home in Greece for 2026 at the Greece Wellness Awards, organised by Boussias.
Our founder, Anna Tseva, accepted the award alongside our Managing Directors and co-founders, Epistimi Sachitzi and Marianthi Sachitzi. At 84, Anna is still here every day, for ten hours or more, doing her life’s work: caring for our residents.
Almost 40 years of doing the work
Marepi started in 1987 with a huge leap of faith. Anna was a nurse who stepped out of the public health system with one conviction: older people in Greece deserved better care than they were getting. Back then, choosing a care home for a loved one was still something families felt ashamed of. She set out to build a place they could feel proud of instead.
Her daughters followed her from the very beginning. In 1999 the family took a second leap of faith and built our own facilities from scratch, designed around the holistic wellbeing of the people who would live there. From then on, the goal was simple: make Marepi better with every passing year.
Since 2002, Anna’s daughters, Epistimi and Marianthi, have led Marepi into its new era. Under their leadership, Marepi has been extensively refurbished and modernised, our licence has been expanded, our teams have been continuously upskilled, and Marepi has been rebranded and repositioned as a premium elderly care provider for the families of today.
This award belongs to everyone at Marepi
Behind this award are many more people than the three women in the photo: our nurses, doctors, kitchen, cleaning, maintenance, administration and support staff, across every part of Marepi. They never question the impact of their work, and they don’t need to. Day in, day out, often quietly, they keep people alive, warm, nourished and loved.
Their work has touched hundreds and hundreds of families. Some residents have stayed bright for years living with us; others have closed their eyes held in caring arms. Both are why we do this, and both are what this recognition is really about.
